Congratulations to Oakey, who was announced as the recipient of the Hahndorf Academy exhibition for Fringe 2024.
Oakey's work 'Reverence' "honours Carrick Hill's well-loved giant gum tree and the land it stands on. The work holds space for the tree's new growth and habitat, amplifying its status as a beacon of hope in an unsettled world". Kilometres of wool have been used in this work, walked meditatively by the artist as a way of connecting with the land.
