For the opening of the 2019 Heysen Sculpture Biennial
Sunday 24 February.
Here are details about the opening. Take a moment to read and please register so we can contact you if needed.
When: For the opening, the grounds are open from 5pm until 8pm with speeches at 6pm, Sunday 24 February.
Where: The Cedars, 68 Heysen Road, Hahndorf, South Australia.
Cost: There is no charge to visit the exhibition on Sunday 24 February when admission to The Cedars is free.
On other days an admission charge to The Cedars of $7.50 applies for adults, and free for chldren under 14. Pay at the Shop. The Heysen Sculpture Biennial does not receive any funding from admission charges to The Cedars. Gold coin donations supporting the 2019 HSB are welcomed. Donations of $2 or more are tax deductible and receipts will be provided for cash or card donations onsite.
Catalogue: A beautiful A5 printed colour catalogue of the exhibition is available for purchase to commemorate your visit to the exhibition. Find the tear-out voting slip inside the catalogue to select your favourite sculpture for the $1000 People's Choice award.
Accessibility: Certain areas of the grounds are steep and the dirt paths are unpaved. Please call the Shop for more details: (08) 8388-7277. There are toilets onsite behind the Shop.
What to bring: Very limited seating is available, so we suggest you bring a rug or low folding chair if you can for the opening speech. If it's a hot afternoon then an umbrella might also be be useful for shade. Hats and sunscreen are highly recommended, and comfortable walking shoes are suggested.
Food and drink: Complimentary nibbles and beverages are available on site during the Opening event.
Other: Access to grounds of The Cedars, and the Nora Heysen Studio, is free for the opening. Admission charges apply during other visits. Dogs are very welcome at The Cedars as long as they are restrained on a lead at all times. Please ask your pooch not to leave a mess that someone might step in.
Fire danger: In the case of Extreme or Catastrophic Fire Warnings for the Hahndorf region the Opening will be postponed. If we can contact you by email we will, otherwise please check the website for news.
Photography: You are welcome to photograph the artworks in the Grounds for personal, non-commercial use only. Photography inside the Nora Heysen Studio is not allowed.
